Help us train with the Acudetox Collective and bring this people’s medicine and healing to our communities in Houston! We are a group of organizers and healers that have gathered to learn this accupuncture and follow in the revolutionary practice of sharing free treatment paired with political education.
In the 70s, Dr Mutulu Shakur and collaborators developed this accupuncture protocol following a people’s takeover of the failing Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx and created the People’s Drug Program to care for their community harmed by the drug epidemic. The center provided accupuncture treatment, political education, and community and offered an alternative to methadone for anyone seeking to help for their drug addiction. Today, the Acudetox Collective in DC continues to practice and share this medicine.
The treatment was developed for addiction but is supportive for dealing with stress, trauma, pain, environmental and social harm, and more. Watch the documentary “Dope is Death” to learn more !
